Botanical Name: Citrus × paradisi

Method of Production: Cold Pressed

Blends With: Grapefruit Pink blends well with other citrus oils, as well as with Rosemary, Cypress, Lavender, Geranium, Cardamom, and most other spice oils.

Description: Grapefruit is a hybrid of Pomelo and Sweet Orange. Its aroma is almost entirely attributed to nootkatone and traces of a sulfur-containing compound. Commonly used in soft-drink flavoring after the removal of 50% of the monoterpenes. The main constituent sought after in the outer peel oil for this usage is nootkatone which, when added to grapefruit juice powder, enhances the flavor of the reconstituted juice. Like all citrus peel oils, it has a large percentage of limonene, the bright, lemony monoterpene. Limonene is also being researched for its role in abnormal cell growth. Grapefruit essential oil's antioxidant and bacteria-fighting properties heal existing acne and protect against future breakouts. It is rich in vitamin C antioxidants, and grapefruit oil calms inflammation promotes collagen production, and increases cellular turnover to unclog pores.
