\Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate 98%, derived from licorice root extract, is a popular skincare and cosmetic ingredient known for its conditioning and anti-inflammatory properties. Dipotassium glycyrrhizate is the active salt derived from the licorice root extract of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant - native to Europe and Asian subcontinents like India. Glycyrrhizic acid, often referred to as glycyrrhizin, is the key compound present in the extract.

Dipotassium glycyrrhizate is a skincare ingredient with a proven ability to improve dry, damaged skin. It can reduce flaking, enhance suppleness, and soothe irritation. Clinical studies have determined the effectiveness of Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate in treating inflamed skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis or eczema by reducing redness and irritation.

Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate may help to preserve the hyaluronic acid content of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is an essential molecule for skin hydration and can retain up to 1,000 times its weight in water. By preserving this acid, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate could assist in the maintenance of the skin's hydration levels and youthfulness.

Common Uses: Soothing and hydrating skin and scalp

Dipotassium glycyrrhizinate can be soluble in water; it can also dissolve in glycerol and propylene glycol. Its molecular structure contains hydrophilic and lipophilic amphiphilic groups, which enables it to reduce the surface tension of aqueous solution. The powder is a good surfactant with self-emulsifying and stabilizing emulsion ability. The content of emulsifiers in cosmetic formulas is a key point. In an aqueous solution, dipotassium glycyrrhizinate will form gels when the pH is below 4. Example: Making Skin toner of DPG.

Water Formula: Water, Glycerin, Butanediol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate, Sodium hyaluronate, etc.

1. Heat the water to 70℃ -80℃， then add the glycerin and butanediol and stir well.

2. Slowly add dipotassium glycyrrhizinate and continue stirring until completely dissolved.

3. Cool to below 40°C, add sodium hyaluronate and preservative, stir well.

4. Cool to room temperature, strain and bottle

Oil Formula: There are several ways to effectively utilize dipotassium glycyrrhizinate in the oil phase:

1. Using emulsifier, e.g., Tween 80, Lecithin or Span 80 etc

2. Using Auxiliary Solvent, e.g., Propylene glycol, glycerin, ethanol, etc.

3. Using oil: e.g., plant oil (Olive oil, sweet almond oil, Jojoba oil, etc); Mineral oil, etc

This product should be added to a formulation at the recommended usage rate.
