Kelp Extract Polysaccharide 30% UV is extracted from seaweed rich in iodine, vitamins, minerals, salts, and polysaccharides. Kelp Polysaccharides mainly refers to three types of polysaccharides: Algin, Fucoidan, and Laminaran. Researchers have found that the fucoidan from Laminaria Japonica, a kind of sulfate polysaccharide with high molecular weight (MW) originally, showed the best antioxidant, TYR activity inhibitory, and anti-melanogenesis benefits, making kelp an important bioactive ingredient with anti-pigmentation, antioxidant, emulsifying, and thickening properties.
Kelp extract can also exhibit antioxidant effects that work to neutralize free radicals present in the environment. When added into skincare formulations, its antioxidant protection helps reduce oxidative stress in the skin, which may also contribute towards an anti-aging effect. In addition, topical application of kelp extract has shown potential as an emollient due to its ability to reduce moisture loss from the skin surface and improve dryness.
