Burdock Root (4:1) Botanical Extract

Burdock Root is a biennial with large, wavy leaves and round heads of purple flowers. Burdock Root Extract contains Vitamins B complex and E. In addition, it boasts trace minerals of potassium, phosphorous, chromium, cobalt, iron, magnesium, silicon, zinc, and sodium. 

INCI Nomenclature: Arctium lappa L
Appearance: Fine brown powder.
Solubility: Soluble in hydro-alcohol
Usage rate: 0.5 - 2% by weight of the product.
Formulation Notes: Most extracts should be added to the cool down phase of the formulation.
• Thick Products such as shampoos, creams, and lotions need to be diluted: Mix 5-10 ml of hot water (45˚C – 50˚C; the temperature of the cool down phase) into the powdered extract until it dissolves. Combine this mixture thoroughly into the product.
Storage: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area.

Common Uses: Burdock Root has been used in personal care products to deep clean the pores, and purify the surface of the skin. It has also been traditionally used in hair care and skin care products for ailments associated with dry skin surfaces.
