Tucuma butter is cold-pressed from the seeds of the Brazilian Amazon tree, Astrocaryum tucuma. Tacuma is from the same family as the Murumuru palm and has similar silicone-like properties. Tucuma Butter's high levels of lauric, myristic, and oleic fatty acids offer excellent skin feel and moisture-binding, while high levels of carotenoids and Vitamin A offer anti-oxidant activity and extended shelf life. Tucuma Butter is an excellent emollient and brings softness to the skin without clogging pores. Tucuma butter is unusually rich in lauric, myristic, and oleic acids which contribute excellent emollient and skin-softening properties. This exotic butter gives a natural silicone gloss to dry and damaged hair, and its lubricity gives the skin a soft and smooth look. It is added to soaps, creams, lotions, body butter, conditioners, and balms.
Note: When ordering natural butter, it is important to recognize that exposure to elevated temperatures during shipping or processing can affect its texture. In such instances, the butter may become liquefied, but it can be subsequently emulsified and rapidly cooled, resulting in a smoother, more homogeneous consistency upon solidification. Additionally, a white film may appear on the top layer. That is normal and is referred to as fat blossom. It is a thin layer of separated fats from the product.
Common Uses: This exotic light-colored butter gives a natural silicone gloss to even dry and damaged hair, and its lubricity gives the skin a soft and smooth look. It is added to soaps, creams, lotions, body butter, conditioners, and balms.
