Description: Palo Santo tree, or “Bursera graveolens,” grows from the Yucatan Peninsula down to Peru and Venezuela. In Spanish, the name translates to “holy wood.” Bursera graveolens are in the same family as frankincense and myrrh, though palo santo oil comes from wood, not resin. Palo Santo Essential Oil is concentrated and found only in the interior of the tree's trunk. This middle note has a powerful scent that is resinous, sharp, and sweet and contains Limonene, menthofurane, and alpha-terpineol. It is a traditional remedy for pain, inflammation, and stress. The natives in Ecuador have used it to perfume their homes. It has long been used by shamans for spiritual purification.
