Virgin Murumuru Butter has an earthy scent and is sometimes called vegetable silicone for its ability to replace mineral silicone in skin and hair formulations perfect for helping frizzy, kinky, dry, damaged locks. It comes from the seeds of a palm tree wild harvested in the Amazon forest. Murumuru butter is rich in vitamins A and C and Omega fatty acids 3, 6, and 9. The main fatty acid found in this butter is called Lauric acid and is known for its anti-allergenic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties making this a good choice for acne-prone skin, psoriasis, and eczema. It also has myristic acid, oleic, palmitic, linoleic acids, and antioxidants.

Botanical Name: Astrocaryum Murumuru
Extraction Method: Cold Pressed
Processing Type: Virgin Unrefined
Obtained From: Seed
Origin: Amazon Rainforest, South America
Appearance: Ivory to pale yellow
Aromatic Description: Mild
Melting Point: 33º to 36° C
Recommended Use Rates: Balms: .5 – 100%, Bar Soaps: .5 - 2%, Hair Conditioners: .5 – 8%, Lotions & Creams: .5 - 8%.
Formulation Notes: When adding butter to creams and lotions, it might be necessary to gently warm them until the texture can be incorporated into the final product. Using a hand blender, create a vortex with your cream or lotion and drizzle your melted butter to fully incorporate. For addition in soaps, the general rule of thumb is 1 tablespoon per pound.

Storage:  Store in cool temperatures (below 25 °C) away from direct light and moisture in an air-tight container. The product will become liquid above ambient temperatures (above 36 °C) but will re-solidify upon cooling without affecting functionality.
Shelf Life: 12 months, properly stored, in a sealed container.

Common Uses:   Having a melting point that is higher than Coconut and Tucuma Palms, it can be used to extend other kinds of butter and offers a product with greater consistency at higher ambient temperatures.  Though solid at room temperature, it will melt in contact with the skin. It is used in formulations that help the skin recover its natural moisture content. This butter has lower recommended values for use in formulations.
